I saw this tweet highlighting how “forever” is not the definition of success.

If you open a coffee shop and run it for a while and it makes you happy but then stuff gets too expensive and stressful and you want to do something else so you close it, it's a "failed" business.
If you write a book or two, then decide that you don't actually want to keep doing that, you're a "failed” writer.
If you marry someone, and that marriage is good for a while, and then stops working and you get divorced, it's a "failed" marriage.

We’re all guilty of this. The notion that if something stops or comes to an end, it’s for some odd reason considered a “failure”.

It’s completely ok to do so something for a while, enjoy it, and then stop once it’s not fun anymore or something else comes along.

I used to think back to how many things I started doing but then stopped because they weren’t “successful” in the traditional sense. When in reality it doesn’t matter at all. I had fun doing it and I also learned a lot.

For example, long-time followers will remember my blogging and Tumblr days. I had so much fun doing that stuff. I made good money too. But then it sort of fizzled out as things were changing. I never sold those businesses and in the back of my mind I had this silly idea that they’re now failed businesses.

Not everything needs to be a success and not everything should be considered a failure.
