Now that we’re at the end of 2024 I wanted to share some end of year thoughts.
There is never a right time. You really do just have to do it.
Being cringe is one of the best ways to learn something new.
The future will be knowing how to prompt. Just like how you can be “good at googling”.
If you haven’t succeeded yet, harsh reality is that you’re probably not good enough. But that doesn’t mean you can’t be.
Working hard is not equal to big rewards.
You’ve got to believe in yourself so much that it’s borderline delusional.
Be a creator and you won’t have to worry about jobs, career, and AI.
Quality of life between the very rich and everyone else is drastically shrinking every day.
Stop sharing your goals. Just do them. Let the results speak for themselves.
Stop acting like the victim.
It’s never been easier to win. The bar is low.
Better to be respected than to be liked.
Remember the nights you prayed for the things you have now.
Portfolio performance
Ending the year with another incredible portfolio performance. My portfolio is now at the stage where the growth is line with my active income. I expect it to surpass it over the next or two if it keeps going like this.
What’s wild is that it’s been growing at this rate every year since 2020.
I love using a compound calculator to see how things can grow over time. If you were somehow to keep growing at 46% a year (which is very unlikely, but one can dream), after 20 years with an initial $100k investment, the portfolio would be worth $193 MILLION. And that’s with no additional contributions.
Compounding is incredibly powerful. Issue is most people don’t have the patience.
Link Lowdown
A collection of links to stuff I think are worth sharing.
Polar — Another payments processor. Worth checking out if you want to sell anything digital.
LookAway — A mac app that periodically makes you look away from your screen.
TabTab — A mac app that helps manage windows and tabs.
Unfiltered with LTT — Great podcast with Linus Tech Tips. A lot of golden information here from one of the OGs in the YouTube tech scene.
Reminders Menubar — Finally! Someone turned the Reminders app in to a Menubar app. I’m surprised Apple haven’t done this already.
Endel — A sound wellness app. Pretty awesome.
ClipBook — A clipboard app for Mac.
Where do you invest this portfolio?
Just started using reminders a few days ago so that menu bar app has come at the perfect time for me.
The default Apple apps are much better than you’d think.
